Ryukyu Awamori Yaesen
Ryukyu Awamori Yaesen is a signature expression from Yaesen Shuzo, representing the rich distilling heritage of Okinawa's southern islands. Crafted on Ishigaki Island, this traditional Awamori reflects centuries of Ryukyuan culture and the distinctive character of Okinawa's oldest distilled spirit.
Unlike sake, which is brewed through fermentation, Awamori is a distilled spirit with a history spanning more than 600 years. It is traditionally made using long-grain Indica rice and black koji mold (Kurokoji), a unique fermentation culture well suited to Okinawa's subtropical climate.
Yaesen Awamori showcases the harmonious combination of aromatic black koji and the natural sweetness of rice, resulting in a spirit that is bold yet remarkably smooth. Its rich character and lingering finish capture the essence of Okinawa's island traditions and craftsmanship.
