About Brewery

In the mountains on the northern edge of Kyoto, we brew sake that makes the most of local ingredients while preserving traditional techniques.
Shiro Nishihara, the sixth president and brewmaster called "Toji" of Yosamusume Sake Brewery, is a great lover of sake.
Utilizing sake brewing techniques passed down from generation to generation, he has begun developing new type of Sake as well as traditional sake such as easy-to-drink Sake with low-alcohol and fruit sake, aiming for the future world standard. Adopting the "Terroir" concept of wine, which is to enjoy the unique nourishment of the region, the company uses Yosano-cho products as ingredients. We are committed to brewing sake with the flavors of the local climate.

About Kyoto

Kyoto is located in a valley, part of the Yamashiro (or Kyoto) Basin, in the eastern part of the mountainous region known as the Tamba highlands. The Yamashiro Basin is surrounded on three sides by mountains known as Higashiyama, Kitayama and Nishiyama, with a maximum height of approximately 1,000 meters (3,281 ft) above sea level.
Kyoto sits atop a large natural water table that provides the city with ample freshwater wells.
